The factory revealed that the new HONDA CRF1000L AfricaTwin 2015 would be fully fueled about 200kgs (441lbs.),
The HONDA -parallel twin engine is said to deliver 110HP and the nature would be tuned especially for offroad use which sounds very reasonable and due to lighter structure it saves also some weight.
They say that the HONDA CRF1000L AfricaTwin 2015 would be equipped with offroad- ABS and traction control system, but I would rather leave the traction control out of the equation since we are looking at only 110HP and make sure that the ABS really works well in offroad and could be also switched completely off on a sustained basis. Unfortunately the HONDA CRF450 Rally has a traction control system which could mean that so does the new AfricaTwin.
The HONDA CRF1000L AfricaTwin 2015 would have 250 mm. (9.84in) suspension travel and few centimeters more ground clearance. That would be even more than what the KTM 1190 Adventure R 2015 offers and if the suspension would be also manually adjustable (no electronics), that would be perfect. At the front there would be 21 inch rims and 18 inch at the rear which is a typical and practical choice in every way.
The HONDA CRF1000L African Twin will have an space age alloy frame unlike inferior flexy steel frames of yesteryear.
The HONDA CRF1000L AfricaTwin 2015 comes optionally with a brand new dual clutch transmission DCT. The new DCT has unique offroad orientation and the rider could shift the gears using either the handlebar buttons, the traditional foot lever or simply allow the DCT computer to take care of the gear changes. This is bold and works well for a lot of riders, but some of us prefer to manage the shifts the old fashioned way and save the weight in question. Nevertheless the DCT is able to eliminate stalling in tricky situations due to the automatic drive coupling and disengagement. In the cockpit the AfricaTwin has a large digital instrumentation panel and above a mounting rail for a GPS navigator or a road book.
